Spartans have the lead at Half-time.

MSU getting pummeled in the second half, outscored 30-10 so far. Baylor up 60-43. Ouch!

The Spartans claimed a 10 point lead with about six minutes left in the 1st half and are out scored by 25 for the remainder. A lack-luster and uninspired effort.

Defensive effort in second half lacking. On offense abandoned what was orking in the first half. Tha being sId Baylo is decent and Scott Drew is a good coach. They exploited our inside defense an then attacked a the 3 point line. This team Andre coaches are still struggling o find their rhythm and necessary effort o copete against decent and better competition. They struggled last night at times against a bad St Johns team. This is he way it is going o be with a team of fresh from HS talents mangled with veteran mediocre layers. Assembling a team from this collection o layer will test Izzo’s judgement. So far I believe is shown the appropriate balamnce of patience and tail kicking. He is dealing a inferential variety of players Han he is used to, undisciplined extreme talent lacking in knowledge of the fine points of he game and the considerable limits of their abilities. Hence the inconsistency of their play.

Apple auto type made the first of that almost incomprehensible. Reads like a 3rd grader’s essay of what they did last summer.

I was concerned about their bigs and our lack of a true 5. But I didn’t expect them to be so physical against us in the second half, and we did not respond. Not that it would have changed the outcome, but they absolutely grabbed and pushed through our pin downs, clutched us as our guys cut through the lane and banged us hard on the blocks.

Again, TI gets T’ed up for complaining about a no foul call when Bridges out jumped their bigs and comes down with the ball and then was banged so hard the ball flew out of bounds and given to Baylor.

Had a great Thanksgiving, though. I hope all of you did, too.

A New York Times article on Jim Tressel that is worth a read as it mentions Mark Dantonio (he and Tressel talk every Friday night), and draws comparisons between Tressel’s 1995 Youngstown State squad and the 2016 Spartans. The Penguins went 3-8 that season after four consecutive appearances in the national title game. YSU recovered to win the NC just two years later.

“It’s hard to beat that sense of accomplishment. When you do climb back up that mountain, it will be worth those times when you were in the valley,” Tressel said. “Now it doesn’t make you feel any better when you were in the valley, because the valley is not a fun place.”

Thanks IB. Interesting read. Uplifting under the circumstances. No doubt coach D will be resolute in making the “…climb back up the mountain when no one”, (outside of MSU and Spartan faithful), “wants you to get there.”

The ’16-’17 school year has certainly not started out to be a Green letter day for Varsity Athletics in Beast Lansing

60% again from the FT line – will cause one to lose more than one wins

Well, they won. Certainly need to work on their press offense – that was just awful

Thief one constant in Spartan athletics.

FYI world, Baylor certainly is NOT all that as they presently trail 21-4 at the 9 min mark of the 1st
