tOSU @ MSU – A Little Bit Of BBall To Divert Our Attention?
February 14th, 2017 by Jeffrey Lubeck

The Buckeyes invade East Lansing to take on the Spartans. For the better part of almost two decades these teams clashed each season with conference title implications on the line. However in 2017 the Acorns (15-11 5-8 B1G) currently in 11th place in conference standings and Spartans ( 15-10 7-5 B1G) currently in 5th place conference standings battle with no such implications.

However, for MSU followers the game is important possibly only because it will act as a diversion from the disturbing news coming out of East Lansing.

The 9PM (EST) game will be broadcast on ESPN. As we are all too aware the 7PM Game broadcast on ESPN will likely run over, so we recommend being ready to record/watch ESPNNews for the first 15-20 minutes of the Spartan game.

As a matter of record TUS has complete faith and offers a full vote of confidence in USMC(retired) continuing in his role as our Ambassador to College Sports Announcers and Referees.

It will be interesting to see why Ellis took a seat.

izzo didn’t use his timeout in first half, should have used it to give alvin adams a short blow and leave him in.

    Hello TURNOVERS, my old friend,
I’ve come to talk with you again,
    Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,

    Despite turnovers~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Spartans wins 74-66.

Noted: Nick Ward has recently become a better free throw shooter.

Dan Dakich waved to the Breslin crowd (twice) as the “We Hate Dakich” chant rained down from the Izzone.

Another must-win in the plus column.

    Ward: 15 points, 5 rebounds

Dakich & EsPPPn headlines last nights win and Dakich’s Tweets are news to me. Did TUS see the PPPinhead’s comet’s about MSU fans proceeding the scUM game?

Izzo said it’s unprofessional EssPPPPn allows an employee to make such remarks. Well, Coach Izzo must not watch esPPPPn’s game day telecast with DEADSman howard.

I just thought the entire country understood that Dakich is a blowhard who likes to listen to himself blather on and that the Spartan fans were just calling him out for the windbag that he is.

NOW I understand their disdain toward him. That truly was uncalled for and it just goes to show you, some things are better left unsaid. There’s a reason that adage has been around forever.

Speaking of diverting attention, EeeessPPPn’s website buries the tO$U vs MSU game and did not have a recap in the summary. No mention of Izzo’s demand for an apology from Dakich… what should we expect form this self-serving group of scUM grads?

An unsubstantiated rumor about Blackwell’s suspension: That he contacted the victim and attempted to dissuade the victim from pressing charges.

  • Kindle writes:
    February 15th, 20173:44 pmat

Here is a quick timeline of events of the negative:

August 29th, 2016: Michigan State fired former Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar after it was revealed that the doctor had multiple sexual assault and harassment complaints against him. A police investigation into child pornography has ensued as well as civil lawsuits and Title IX complaint was initiated on August 29th and still ongoing. The link above has more details and, quite frankly, if true this guy needs to go away for life.

Last week: In a not so private rumor, multiple sites (MGoBlog, reddit, etc.) are reporting that MSU LB Jon Reshke was dismissed from the team after he got into a verbal confrontation with a teammate who allegedly slept with his girlfriend/ex. Allegedly the N-bomb was dropped in the rant and the team voted to kick him off the team.

Also rumored last week and reported on Feb 7th: Michigan State Right Tackle Thiyo Lukusa has quit because he is apparently no longer interested in football and hasn’t been for some time. He was projected to be the starting right tackle after appearing in 8 games this past season.

February 9th: Three unnamed Michigan State football players were suspended and removed from on campus housing as well as the suspension of a football staffer due to sexual assault allegations that have led to a criminal investigation, a Title IX investigation, and the school hiring an outside law firm to conduct a full review of the football program’s compliance with regards to relationship violence and sexual misconduct.

Announced February 9th: Michigan State football player Demetrius Cooper was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery in November for allegedly spitting on a police officer.

Yesterday: Michigan State football staffer Curtis Blackwell was suspended. Blackwell is heavily involved with Spartans recruiting.

Yesterday: Michigan State women’s gymnastics coach Kathie Klages says she’s retiring immediately, a day after the school announced her suspension. Klages is accused of downplaying complaints made by two teens in the late 1990s. But athletic director Mark Hollis says he was troubled by Klages’ “passionate defense” of Nassar to members of the gymnastics team during a meeting last September.

This seems like the place to respond to Jeff’s question of the previous Post:

I think Hollis should look into a mechanism for handing off an investigation of the Nasser issue set — and prepare for ready responses to an investigative expansion encompassing Klages and other MSU employees that may put MSU’s legal obligations to its employees & retirees in conflict with various outside agencies.

Klages was in her 27th season as MSU’s gymnastics coach.

Shortly after she announced her retirement, this came to light:

A third complaint about Klages’ apparent complicity in Nasser’s behavior seems to have come to light. There should be strong media confirmation of that by tomorrow morning.

    * Nice that MSU won its Game of Runs with Iowa, but I am slightly concerned about its ability to shore up an NCAAT bid. It should beat NE. It should be able to win a B1G Tournament game. But winning at IL is not assured, and I have all but written off wins vs. PU, WI & MD. I look forward to MSU avoiding injuries this weekend vs. PU and regrouping for its final home games next week.

    * The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office estimates that its investigation on the allegations associated with four football suspensions will be finished by the end of the week. Perhaps, then, we will have names associated with these persons sometime next week.

    * Levity break!

    * MSU Hockey beat Michigan, 4-1, on Saturday:
    http://www.theonlycolors.com/2017/2/14/14607326/wrapping-up-college-hockey

    * I like the chances of the MSU women (16-9, 6-6 B1G) winning three of their last four games — beginning with MN tomorrow night (1900 ET; BTN Plus).

    * MSU Baseball begins play on Friday. The B1G is giving the Spartans just the right touch of disrespekt:

    GO GREEN!

4 or 5 football player names have been tossed around in blogs but the commenters’ credibility is so suspect as to render them unworthy of posting here.

      • JustABum writes:

Thanks for the links. The names in the rumours I heard sounded more like pipedream players by scUM bloggers wanted off the team. We’ll see how this unfolds.

Jeff’s suggesting MSU distancing the school from the the Nassar investigation is sound. However, Klages’ impeding MSU student athletes from filing complaints seems impossible to not confront head-on with more than ready responses. The media and MSU Students want more and should get it. What and how much more is tricky, but appearing to step aside if AD dept involvement is uncovered in addition to Klages will require more from Hollis and MSU.
